Congratulations to John Whittle, 3 time winner of the club's Scratch Championship. John beat Russell Shardlow by one shot in a very hotly contested 36 hole stroke play competition. The final fourball had only 2 shots between them after 27 holes, and standing on the 17th tee Russell needed to pick up one shot on John to force a play off. John adopted a conservative approach, holing out for 4, knowing that only a 3 on the notoriously difficult 9th would be good enough for Russell. Despite a great drive Russell could only manage a 4 and John was victorious.
In the Handicap Trophy, Iwan Thomas once again played a great afternoon round to win both the Flitney Salver and become the clubs Handicap Champion 2022, finishing on a very creditable -3 for the day. Runner up spot went to Mick Hyland on countback with Thomas Culley and Russell Shardlow.
