Jae enjoying her life in golf
6th June 2022
JAE Bowers has been a member at Prestbury Golf Club since she joined as a junior at the age of 17 and she has gone on to enjoy her years in golf as an amateur and professional since then.

Jae said:” I took to the game in my late teenage years having been a big hockey player.
“I joined Prestbury Golf Club in my last year as a junior and my handicap soon came tumbling down. “I was eventually selected to represent Cheshire not long after and went on to do so for four years before turning professional.

“Since turning pro I have been competing on various tours around Europe, mainly the Ladies European Tour Access Series and the Rose Ladies Series.

“I remember attending the Women’s British Open when I first took up the game and can recall feeling incredibly inspired by all the competitors as they showcased their potential. This experience gave me even more motivation to work hard on my own game.

“I didn’t have much of an amateur career due to taking to the game late, but my amateur highlight would have to be leading The Scottish Ladies Open at Royal Troon after round one with a score of 4 under par (-4), having had the highest handicap in the field.

“I also represented Cheshire as an amateur. Some of my fondest memories were made during the annual county match weeks.

“My career highlight to date is winning my first professional tournament on the Rose Ladies Series at Royal Birkdale last August 2021.

“I will always remain extremely grateful to my parents who backed me from day one to pursue my passion in golf. Without their support and belief, I wouldn’t be embarking on the career that I have now. The strong team around me are also to thank for the continuous progress I make.

“This season I will be committing to the full LET Access Series schedule, with the goal being to secure an LET card by the end of the season. “Additionally, I will be coaching around my playing schedule, whilst also continuing to study my PGA degree which I decided to begin during lockdown because of my passion for coaching.

“We have a really promising junior section at Prestbury GC with over 40 juniors of mixed abilities.

“Therefore, as junior organiser I hope to encourage, support and represent the junior section in whatever way that I can.

“As well as taking on the role of junior organiser, i also provide coaching to the junior section on an individual and group basis.
I’m enjoying the challenges that both of these roles are presenting me with. My roles consist of organising match fixtures, effectively communicating with parents, running the junior section’s social media channels, whilst also providing the necessary coaching to suit the mixed golf abilities amongst the junior section.

“I am excited to have recently signed with Ping, who are now my official equipment and apparel sponsor going forwards.”
