‘C’EEP ON PLANTING
Trees

The COP 26 Conference in Glasgow has highlighted the need to invest in trees and no more so at Prestbury. We intend to do so on an annual basis not only to make an environmental contribution but to enhance the course and also provide for the future as trees mature and die.

Our focus this year is twofold:

1. We shall be replacing the trees that members have kindly donated over the last 2 years which unfortunately have not established themselves for whatever reason be it the weather, soil conditions or the type of tree.

2. After the success of last year when we planted a number of copses of whips we will continue in a similar way this year with new copses in other locations around the course and on the practice ground. Longer term these copses will be thinned out and the trees replanted to eventually replace maturing trees or where we feel the need to further protect our boundaries.

We are therefore looking for members to donate a copse or ‘mini’ copse of mixed native species.

o A copse will cost £100 and have 12 whips
o A ‘mini’ copse will cost £50 and have 5 whips

Both will be planted with appropriate compost and stakes and will have a plaque indicating the donor’s name or names.

If you are interested in donating or would like further information then please email me at geoffdavison1@ntlworld.com. We would like your response by the end of November to ensure we buy and plant the trees at the best time.
