Wyke Green Newsletter
September 9th 2020.
Another very busy week here at Wyke Green Golf Club.

This week, amongst other things, I got to have my first course walk with our consultant agronomist, Greg Evans. We spoke about many of the issues that I have heard many of you speaking about of late (Fairways, bunkers etc) and its great to know that we are continuing to work towards putting in processes and taking actions to improve all areas of our course. These improvements will take time....and of course, money. However, I am currently happy that we have our priorities right.

Huge congratulations to Dinesh Sharma who secured victory in the final Men's Major of the year last weekend, The Directors Cup. Great scores of net 66 and net 70 playing off of a 4 handicap, saw Dinesh home by 2 clear shots.
Well done indeed, a very worthy winner.

The golf continues to come thick and fast here at Wyke Green and there are more details below.
If any member would like to know how to get involved in any events here at the club, please just drop us a line here and we will be in touch.

Do please keep an eye out for all our new members. Under the present tee system it is proving difficult for many to find a game and we do not want that to ever be the case.
I have set up a new members WhatsApp group and any existing member who would like to be added to this to help others get a game, please let me know and I will get this sorted.

Good (safe) Golfing
Tim

Thank you to the 176 of you who responded to the survey sent out by the Match & Handicap Committee.
The results are now being collated by Nick Hitch and will be presented to the M&H Committee in due course for action considerations.

A full response and action plan will be sent to you all in due course.

As I am sure many of you will be aware in the coming months the new World Handicapping system will be coming into operation.
This, as the name would suggest, is a revised, worldwide system for the calculation of all handicaps.
There is a raft of information available on the subject and this can be viewed at www.whs.com
Over the coming weeks we will be sending out further information to you all.

As a club, we are always keen to hear from you all with any suggestions you may have for improvements here at Wyke Green.
With that in mind, and as some of you may know we have an email address set up - suggestions@wykegreengolfclub.co.uk where you can send any thoughts or ideas for making our wonderful club even better.
These will them be passed to the relevant committees for consideration and to report back to you on any actions.

Have a great week ahead everyone! Enjoy your golf.

Kind Regards

Tim Owers
General Manager.
