Rules Clarification and Matchplay Qualifiers
New details
Hello all,

Hope you are all enjoying the start to this jam packed golf season.

The feedback has been very positive from the majority of members and we would like to thank members who have taken the time to get in touch. The support is appreciated.

What a great turn out by the golfers for the first two fixtures.
It confirms our decision to go ahead with a fixture card for this season was the right one.
The course is looking good and its all to play for in the coming weeks!

Rules Clarification

We just want to clarify some new local rules until further notice. This will save confusion and the creation of Grey Areas when competing the next few weeks/months.

1. A penalty of ONE shot WILL be applied if the flagstick is removed. Our members safety is our priority and we need to keep the hole liner intact for everyone to help with retrieving the golf ball.

This is from the R&A

We allow playing partners to centre the flagstick in a safe manner which does not involve using the
hand, even when wearing a glove or using a towel (for example, by using a club). The
centring of the flagstick may be allowed while another player putts (this may be
desirable in windy conditions when the flagstick is required to be left in the hole and is
leaning towards the player making the stroke).

2. The ball must go below the hole
Treating a ball as holed when it has bounced out of the hole for any reason (for
example, when it has bounced off the flagstick, or the
hole liner) is not permitted and against the rules of golf.

3. Bunkers are in play and a ball can be lifted and placed within 6 inches of where it sits under no penalty. This cannot be NEARER the hole.
