Chairman's Ladder -week 5 results
Is this Mark's Year as he wins again to remain top!
68 players enjoyed a beautiful winter day, the sun shine brought the best out in some players as it was a day of big wins. Tom Foreman won 9 & 8 against the luckless Simon Heather, although Tom was -6 under par at the turn. Former Champion, Andy Larkin also made 6 birdies as he won 8 & 6 against Simon Ormiston. Simon was playing in his first ladder as a member since his Father and former member, Mike Ormiston, passed away. The family donated the Ladder League Trophy in memory of his late father.

Mark Earley retained his position at the top as he won a close battle with Karl Nilchibar 4 & 2. Mark was understandably pleased and said ‘ I am right chuffed and will enjoy a brown ale down at the allotment this afternoon as I tend to my racing pigeons’

The final match to complete was the top of the table battle between Marcus Opoku and Ian Pagan, Ian Pagan won to move up from 5th place to be top challenger. It was 3rd time unlucky as Marcus was unable to survive his 3rd snake on the trot. Marcus did however comment’ although it was disappointing to lose such a great match on the 19th, playing extra holes did provide the opportunity to visit the Halfway House for the 3rd time’.  Proof, that every cloud has a silver lining!

There was 9 two’s paying £46.46 and the following players won the nearest the pins

4th Sam Wells; 8th Simon Blakeney;  13th Lee Drew; 16th Mark Budd

Kim Horsted wasn’t able to put together back-to-back wins as he was beaten by Stewart Coull and Simon Clark, won his first match for a while as he remembered to register this week having missed out last week.

Alan Ratcliffe managed to win his match against the big-hitting Mark Budd by 1 hole to move up to 5th spot. Alan managed to safely navigate his way around the course today, after falling in the ditch on the 5th hole yesterday when trying to save his golf bag & trolley. Never a dull moment with Alan, if only Titleist made rubber rings!

The last player to make a splash in the ladder was Stuart Catton as he spectacularly dived in after his bag on the 18th, this was caught on camera by Nick Alford who chose to take pictures rather than help!
