Gents Chairman's Ladder - week 4
Mark Earley defeats Ian Pagan to go top
Earley move for Mark as he hits the front as the Nearly man makes his move to the top.

42 players attended today as the weather forecast may have put a few off, although it remained dry & warm. With six players in the top 15 absent it was a great chance for several players to climb the ladder.

Mark Earley has enjoyed mixed success in the competition over the past few years, giving him the label of ‘the Nearley man’ as he has fallen at the final hurdle on numerous occasions. He has however staked another claim this year with a great win on Saturday over the unbeaten Ian Pagan, winning on the 19th hole. Ian Pagan said that Mark was like a Machine out there today, he hardly missed a shot, I was terminated, although a philosophical Pagan stated that he had to lose sometime and he will be back!

Karl Nilchibar defeated Michael Gaughan 2 & 1 to jump into 2nd spot and top challenger next week.

In other matches, Marcus Opoku ranked 5 survived a large snake in defeating Chris Watton (47) 6 & 5 avoiding a drop of 42 places.

Tony Breslin was asking for a stewards enquiry as Don Bennett was round in a gross -1 to win their match 6 & 5, Tony Breslin joked that he was going to write to the handicap committee. Kim Horsted defeated Alastair Keith to continue his move up the ladder.
