Autumn Finance Update & Greens Drainage Attached with today's latest news email is an update from our Finance Director, Charles MacKendrick, outlining the Club’s financial performance so far this year. The update also provides details of the forthcoming greens drainage works, which have been approved by the Board and are scheduled to take place later this month. Full details of both can be found in the attached report. Pro Shop Newsletter Also attached is a copy of the latest Pro Shop newsletter. Divot Party & Fairway Overseeding Firstly, a big thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help with the fairway divotting on Monday evening. Your time and efforts are very much appreciated! As members will be aware, the prolonged drought conditions over the summer have taken their toll on our fairways, leaving many areas with thin grass coverage or bare patches. Those who have played over the last couple of days will have noticed the slits across the fairways. These are the result of our overseeding work, for which we have hired a specialist machine that creates narrow slits in the turf and deposits grass seed directly into them. Our greenkeeping team has now completed this process across all the fairways, and we are hopeful of seeing good germination and some encouraging signs of recovery over the coming weeks. We had originally planned to undertake this work during our maintenance week in September. Unfortunately, the hire company initially delivered the wrong machine, and we then had to wait until the end of last week for the correct equipment to become available. As you can imagine, these machines are in particularly high demand at present, with many golf clubs facing similar challenges following the summer drought and all looking to take advantage of the autumn growing conditions. The greenkeeping team will be brushing and mowing the fairways tomorrow, which will help to close the slits, smooth out the playing surfaces and improve their overall appearance. We appreciate that the timing of this work is not ideal, and thank members for their patience and understanding. However, it is important that we take advantage of the remaining autumn growing conditions to re-establish grass coverage and give the fairways the best possible chance of recovery ahead of the winter months.
