On Sunday 20th September the Suffolk Ladies County Golf Association Division 1 Meeting took place at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club. 30 ladies turned up to a warm sunny Felixstowe for the Division Meeting, which is a gross and nett medal competition for ladies with handicap index capped at a maximum of 13.9 There was a stiff cross wind from the west, but it was a beautiful day for golf. Like many golf courses, the grass has not completely recovered from the exceptional summer, but ladies reported it to be an enjoyable but hard test of skill. The winner of the event and winner of the Sybil Green Trophy for the best gross score went to Abbie Symonds with a score of 78, congratulations to Abbie on your win. Congratulations also to Vicki Hunt who came in 3rd with a score of 82 and to Karen Larbey who came in second place in the nett competition with a score of nett 71. The Division 1 Challenge Shield is awarded for the best three gross scores from players from the same home club and this was won by Ipswich Golf Club. Congratulations to Abbie Symonds, Vicki Hunt and Karen Larbey with a score of 245. Congratulations to all the Ladies’ on a fantastic weekend of golf. Division 2 was played for this weekend and we had more success with Liz Messent winning. In addition there was success from the Juniors with Raife Levermore winning the Suffolk Junior Pairs played at Halesworth, more details to follow in Purdis News. Congratulations to all players.
