A Dramatic Finish on the 18th The David Lyon Mixed Foursomes Knockout Final was played on 21st September, providing another fantastic afternoon of competitive golf and a fitting finale to this popular event. The competition is a particularly enjoyable mixed format, with partners drawn at random — often producing some great and unexpected pairings along the way. This year’s final saw our Captains, Al Beasley and Liz Dutton, take on last year’s Ladies Captain Angela Gwilt and Chris Stevens in what proved to be a closely fought contest. The match went right down to the wire, with the outcome finally decided on the 18th green. Congratulations to Al and Liz, who secured victory after a fantastic final. A huge well done also to Angela and Chris on reaching the final — no mean feat in such a competitive knockout competition. There was an extra reason for Captain Al to celebrate, as he has now retained the David Lyon Trophy, having won the competition in 2025 alongside our Club Champion, Melissa Hughes. Congratulations to all four finalists for a terrific match and for providing such an exciting conclusion to this year’s competition.
