Greens Spiking
We’re going to be spiking the Steel Green over the next two days as part of our preparation for the winter months. The work will help to relieve compaction, improve air and water movement through the soil, and encourage stronger root growth. This is particularly important heading into the wetter months, when the green will be under increased pressure from rainfall and regular play. By doing the work now, we’re giving the green the best opportunity to recover and strengthen before winter. It should also help with drainage, reduce the risk of surface water and improve the overall health and consistency of the playing surface in the longer term. There may be some temporary disruption to the surface, but this is a proactive measure that will benefit the green and its playability over the coming months
