Despite Wednesday’s torrential rain the course was in magnificent condition for the 178 players who took part in this year’s Seniors Open. The weather was mixed for the players with light wind, some heavy showers late morning and some sunshine late afternoon. The course proved difficult again with a score of 68 winning the handicap prize and a 70 taking first place in the scratch competition. There was a good showing from the home players and it was one of our own that took first place in the handicap. Seniors Team Captain Bob Stokes shot a superb 68 (82-14) to win by 2 shots. Bob had 2 gross birdies at 6 and 10 and 4 net birdies at 4, 8, 12 and 13. Out in net 35 he was back in 33 for a total of 68. Great shooting Bob. Gary Corrigan shot a 1 under par 70 to win the Scratch prize finishing 4 shots ahead of Colin Gardiner. Gary started well and was 2 under par after birdies on 1 and 4 helping him out in 35. Further birdies at 10, 16 and 17 offset 3 bogeys for another 35. Here is a full list of all prize winners.
