A reminder that the deadline for withdrawing from Saturday's Championship is 12.00 noon tomorrow, Tuesday 4th August. Here are some points for guidance on the Championship, particularly for those who haven’t competed at the Club Championships before, so it is a successful and enjoyable day for all. Please note that the Committee's decision is final for any issues: • The Championship (Cowie Cup) is scratch score over 2 rounds = 36 holes on the same day. Playing groups remain the same for both rounds. Rules in the event of a tie are in the front of the Club Diary. The Club Champion is exempt from qualifying in future. • The James Ogilvie Trophy is the handicap competition. The winner is exempt from qualifying for the following year’s Championships. • Any player withdrawing from the competition during play may be excluded from competing in the Championship for 2 years if there are no extenuating circumstances. Players take part on the understanding that they will complete the competition. • Buggies may only be used if official medical evidence is provided in advance. • The Draw: Players will shortly be given tee times for both rounds. • Sign in will be in the Main Lounge, where you will be given your score card & pin positions. You must sign in at least 15 minutes before your tee time. • Food: At sign-in there will also be a slip for players to fill out and pay for lunch so it will be ready after the first round is completed. • Caddies: You may have a caddie if you wish. Please notify your playing partners at the start. Caddies must uphold proper etiquette throughout, including dress code, course awareness & pace of play. • Spectators must also be respectful and follow proper etiquette for watching a golfing competition. This is particularly important outside the clubhouse for the 1st tee and 18th green - keep the noise down, please. • Technology: if you use a rangefinder, GPS watch or any other distance-measuring device, including on your trolley, please ensure that any features not permitted under the Rules of Golf are disabled/switched off. This includes functions such as club recommendations, slope, wind, or other settings that provide playing information beyond distance only. Take a moment to check your device before you head out to avoid any unnecessary penalties. • Rogerson Trophy: the scratch singles matchplay competition for the top 16 available finishers takes place on evenings (Mon, Thur, Fri, Sun) the week following the Championship. Before playing in the Championship, when you sign in you must declare your availability to play in the Rogerson Trophy. The draw is made on Saturday night after the Championship and no changes are permitted after this – any withdrawals mean the opponent has a bye to the next round; this also denies others the chance to play, given the declaration of availability, and may result in future exclusions for the player withdrawing. The Final is refereed by the Club Captain.
