Friday 19th June - there were reported sightings of 2 dozen people on the golf course at 4.30am. When investigators followed up they found that 6 groups of 4 golfers had indeed ventured out on Craycombe Links at this very strange time to play in the Madness. It was stableford format with best 2 scores to count of 85% playing handicap and scoring was fairly good. There were 5 gross birdies on the day, Matt Langmead on 18, Carl Icke on 6, Steve Watts on 9 and 14 and the unlucky Stu Berry on 15 which was missed during card scrutiny and all the balls had gone! Sorry Stu! 2 teams scored 86 points but missing 2nd place on countback were Carl Icke, Lauren Smith, Steve Watts and Mark Evans. This spot was taken by Geoff Mabbott, Steve Young, Dave Morris and Sandra Langmead. Winning with 87 points were Granthan Speake, Stu Berry, Matt Langmead abd Deb Martin so many congratulations to them and well played. A great breakfast thanks to Donna and Amy was then enjoyed in the clubhouse with all having enjoyed a beautiful start to the day. Hopefully we can repeat this next year.
