Another Big thank you to the resort, members families and friends who support this challenge. We will report the final figure shortly, but so far the total is over £2,000 The day started at 04:15 with Vice President Jim Wood providing moral support and words of encouragement. With the mist gently rising, the team readied their buggies, stocked up with provisions and headed for the 1st tee to begin the first of our 4 rounds of golf teeing off at 04:24 am. We completed our first round of 18 holes at 07:45 am with a well-earned bacon and egg sandwich. Our second round began at 08:00 am with the temperature rising and sun lotion being applied. We were joined by Dave Robb and his daughter who walked the 6th & 8th holes with us, providing much needed moral support. It was also Daves birthday, he foolishly bet Venu £5 if she could sink her 40ft put on the 8th green, Venu duly sank the putt, never looked like missing. Our 2nd round was completed at 11:30 mainly thanks to the generosity of club members letting us through to aid our progress. 12:00 noon saw the start of our 3rd round just nipping in front of a large golf society who had come to savour the joys of playing Formby Hall. By this time the team were flagging a little as the temperature rose. Thankfully, the temperature dropped slightly, and some light cloud provide respite from the heat. The back 9 started well with Ian following a massive 40 yard drive, chipping in for a birdie on the 10th. We kept up the pace and completed our 3rd round at 3:45 pm. After a short break, chat and photographs with Maria the Diabetes UK representative we commenced our 4th and final round at 4:00 pm Tired but with end in sight, a sense of relieve came over the team and we were able to enjoy millionaires golf for our final 18 holes completing the round and our challenge at 07:40 pm with a well earned drink in the 19th hole.
