Dear member
Having played the course Friday night I can honestly say it was a pleasure to play.
For those of us that have been members a while it's worth reminding yourself and anyone else that will listen what our tees and approaches used to look like.
I remember a time when the 5th and 15th tees were defined by the tee markers, they are now well defined and really good hitting surfaces. As for the new 13th and 14th tees they are an absolute pleasure to play from. The approaches are almost perfect, the ball sits up and chipping from them is a delight. I would obviously say this, but I think we can all be proud of the course we call home.
With the recent rain the fairways have also come back to life and I see no reason why we cant play the ball as it lies from July 1st. Although I will send confirmation of this.
We will continue to invest in our tee boxes, every year we will endeavour to upgrade at least one hole until they are all of a similar standard to that of the new 13th & 14th.
Big thank you to Ade Walker who was responsible for fixing the fence around the rear of hole 14, tidying that area up nicely.
There's been some bar chatter about the gorse bushes that have been cut back. These will grow back thicker and better than before.
You DO NOT get free relief from the roots/trunks of the bushes. You either play your ball or take an unplayable lie under penalty.
The tree compounds are still tree compounds! If your ball enters and stays in one of the areas (trees wrapped with plastic) you must drop at the point of entry without penalty. You do not have to find your ball but (especially) in competition play your playing partners must all agree that the ball is almost certainly in the compound.
The driving range upgrade continues. We are at the mercy of a supplier, awaiting delivery of the posts before they can be erected, concreted in and the net put in place. Until this time, please please please hit short irons only, 150 yards max.
Congratulations to Rupert Hampshire for achieving a hole in one during last weeks major on hole 16. Rupert did buy the drinks !!
Round of applause also goes to our scratch team beating Mid Herts away in our first outing of 2026 in the EAGL.
Charity Day 2026 is filling up nicely. It's set to be another great day for charity, the club and anyone that gets involved. The manual entry sheet is located opposite the pro shop.
STARTING TIMES
Please be reminded that the first tee time mid week is 7am and 6:45am at weekends. Please adhere to these times and do not start before your allotted tee time.
DOG POO BINS - USE THEM
We love our dogs here at Millbrook. Please be reminded to keep your dog on a lead at all times (this includes the bar) and pick up after it, placing your bags in the bins provided... Don't put dog waste in the normal course bins please...
Being able to play golf with your dog and sit with them in the bar is a luxury, don't spoil this luxury for people who do adhere to the rules.
PRO SHOP
The shop is almost fully stocked for the summer ahead, just a reminder that you can't buy Motocaddy trolleys any cheaper, anywhere else. That goes for the majority of products available on the market. We've recently sold sets of wedges, sets of irons and a few drivers at a better price than our members could find elsewhere, so if you're in the market for some new kit, ask us first!!
The 4 dozen Pro V1's for the price of 3 dozen deal is ongoing!! Works out at £45 per doz. Why not go halves with a mate???
