They are playing against Worthing Golf Club and the match is being hosted at Dyke Golf Club. We wish the team the very best of luck. Supporters are very welcome to head over to watch.
We are hosting the quarter final for Dyke Golf Club v West Sussex Golf Club.
Gents Changing Rooms
An update on the progress with the works in the gents changing rooms. The flooring work is finished, new toilets have been installed, new shower heads have been fitted, and the basins have had new taps and plugs fitted. We are still waiting on the delivery of the new cubicles, so in the short term we have re-instated two of the old cubicles around two of the new toilets. The showers can be used, but they will remain ‘communal’ until the new cubicles arrive.
Thank you to all members for your patience whilst we carried out these works. I hope all men will agree that this is a significant improvement and a long overdue upgrade.
Snooker Final
Mark Hood 0 v 3 Robbie Clear
Monday 8th June and its finals night on the green baize. Our two warriors of the Cue, Robbie Clear and Mark Hood, go head-to-head in a best of 5 frames match to win the Strauss Cup.
Mark Hood won the coin toss and elected to break off first, after a few good safety shots from both players, Mark then failed to get the cue ball back to bulk and left Robbie an easy red to start the scoring. Robbie went on to build a nice break of 33, missing a brown off its spot to equal his already competition high break of 37. Mark battled on and was disappointed to see his chances rattle in the jaws of the pockets on a number of occasions. Robbie went on to get another break of 25 leaving Mark a mountain to climb to rescue this frame and had to concede with 5 colours on the table. 1 - 0 to Robbie.
Frame 2 was a cagier affair with lots of good safety play and Mark taking an early lead. Again, an errant safety shot from Mark let Robbie in giving him the chance to go into the lead. Mark gave his best to save this frame but certainly wasn’t getting the rub of the green and it seemed Robbie couldn’t miss and pulled ahead leaving Mark to get snookers to win, a tall order with the balls all split up. 2 - 0 to Robbie.
Frame 3 and all to play for, Mark to save the match and Robbie to win the match. Mark had to stop Robbie scoring and leave him nothing, keeping him in bulk with only long shots or difficult safety route to bulk. He valiantly tried his best but Robbie was able to pick off shots and build a good lead with small breaks then leaving Mark nothing to hit or pot. Robbie’s lead became uncatchable with the balls on the table and needing snookers as well. Mark conceded the match. 3 - 0 to Robbie.
Congratulations to Robbie and well played, commiserations to Mark you tried your best. Trophy presentation will be on the club presentation night later in the year.
I would like to thank all those who entered this competition and hope you all enjoyed it. For next year there will be handicaps introduced now I know the levels some of you play to, to make it fairer.
I will be posting the 26/27 list up at the end of July, so if interested please put name and contact details down.
Kind Regards
Colin Chart
