As part of our ongoing programme to improve putting surface quality and year round playability, we will be using an Air2G2 machine across the greens. This process is designed to improve the soil profile beneath the surface without causing significant disruption to play.
The Air2G2 works by injecting compressed air deep into the rootzone of the green. This helps to:
Relieve soil compaction
Improve oxygen movement through the profile
Enhance water infiltration and drainage
Encourage deeper, healthier root growth
Reduce layering within the soil profile
Unlike traditional aeration methods, the Air2G2 creates channels of movement beneath the surface with minimal disturbance to the playing surface itself, allowing the greens to recover very quickly while benefiting from improved root health and soil structure.
To help the team complete this process as efficiently and safely as possible, winter greens will be in play while the work is being carried out. This will allow the operation to move more quickly and minimise the overall disruption to the course.
These works are an important part of maintaining high quality greens throughout the season and we appreciate your patience and understanding while the work is completed.
