They started the day feeling good, opening with a few solid pars on the back nine and holing some confidence building putts. A couple of unforced errors crept in, and they turned at 1 over, not far from what they knew was out there, but still leaving a few shots behind.
The front nine was a real test. Tricky, undulating greens and tough pin positions led to a double bogey and a bogey on holes 3 and 4, pushing them to +4 and very much on the back foot. But with a bit of fight still in them, they finished strongly. An eagle on the 5th and two closing birdies pulled them back to level par and into a tie for first place with two other pairs.
After lunch, they headed back out knowing that if they played the way they finished the first round, they would be hard to beat. The front nine challenged them again the same tough greens, the same dropped shots on 3 and 4 but they stayed patient, knowing chances would come. Two birdies and another bogey took them to +1 with nine holes to play.
Early birdie chances on the back nine slipped by, and it felt as though time was running out. But with six holes remaining the momentum finally turned. Four birdies in the closing stretch took them to 3 under for the round, securing the win by four shots.
Well Done Rob & Ryan..
