Veterans Trophy
Brian Thompson starts strong
Tuesday saw the first round of the 2026 Vets Tournament being played and with the sun shining (for most of the day anyway) we had a decent turnout with 40 players taking part in round 1.
There was some good scoring as well with 6 players scoring 36 points or more in the stableford format.
Leading on the day and winner of the monthly medal was Brian Thompson with a very impressive 39 points, followed closely by Robert Smith on 38 points. Just a point further behind on 37 points, we had the trio of Brian Anderson, Michael Cassaly and Stewart McKay who’s already been posting good scores this season.
3 players got their birdie 2 account off to a good start with Alan Lambert Thomson, Grant Hawthorne and Stephen Burns all registering 2’s at the 3rd hole. That’s golf balls in the bank already guys, well done!
