General Meeting - Update
Thursday 26th March
Please find below some additional information following the email from the Director of Finance and I dated 20 February, regarding the General Meeting scheduled for 26 March 2026.

The General Meeting will discuss and vote on a single “Special Resolution”:

“To approve a one-off Course Drainage Levy per member, payable May 31st, 2026, with the 2026/27 membership subscriptions, for the sole purpose to complete the course drainage program.”

Eligible voting members (Full, Restricted and Intermediate) are strongly encouraged to cast their vote either in person at the meeting, or via a proxy. Please refer to the previous email dated 20th February 2026 (also available on the ClubV1 Members Hub App under the 'Latest News' section) or contact the Club Manager for details of options if you wish to vote via proxy.

The following threshold must be met for the vote to be validated:

• A Special Resolution requires 75% "For" votes to pass.

The votes will be counted, and the results will be announced at the conclusion of the meeting on 26th March.

Dependent upon the outcome of the Special Resolution vote, other funding options will then be considered, as outlined in the email dated 20th February 2026.

The Board will confirm the next steps by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, 27th March.

Other Information:

To date, I can confirm that drainage installation has now been completed on greens 1,2,3,4,5,6,14,15 & 16, alongside fairways 4,6 (partial),8 and 9. The greens team are currently working on installation to the 10th fairway and will then move to the 5th with the intention to complete by the end of this month, subject to favourable weather conditions. This would complete the vast majority of phase 1 as communicated on Friday 28th November 2025.

Subject to raising the required funding, drainage installation to the remaining nine greens and the putting practice area will start on Monday 28th September 2026. Following installation to the greens, work will commence to fairways, prioritising as follows, 13th,17th,18th,7th & 4th tee areas, 2nd, remainder of 1st & remainder of 6th.

As previously informed, the total cost for this second phase is c.£100,000 with the “split” between greens and fairways approximately 60:40.

This past Winter has seen snowfall in early January and record rainfall which inevitably caused some closure of the course, although the short-course generally held-up well. The installation of modern drainage systems ensures that surface water is removed quicker, reducing waterlogged soil thus providing optimum conditions for healthy growth. In addition, efficient drainage lowers the water table allowing soil to warm-up earlier in Spring to allow biology to work faster. Golf course agronomy is a complex scientific subject!

Additional information regarding the benefit of course drainage installation from an agronomy perspective, will be included in the upcoming monthly course update.

For us members, we can already see evidence that greens and fairways where drainage is now installed provides a clear benefit, ensuring optimal playability for many golfing seasons ahead.

Hopefully we are through the worst of this very disruptive recent wet weather and can now look forward to the season ahead. Thank you for your continued support and please do exercise your vote either in person on the 26th March or via proxy.

As always, if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Mike Walker
Chairman.
