Attached with today's latest news email is a copy of the scorecard showing the course for the cross country competition tomorrow. Also attached is a copy of the rules for the event.
Please note one new rule for tomorrow - approaches to greens (aprons) must be treated as an extension of the green when playing to a different hole.
For example, the 1st hole tomorrow will be played from the 1st tee to the 2nd green. If your ball comes to rest on the approach to the 1st green, you must treat it as being on the 1st green and take relief at the nearest point.
This rule is in place to help reduce wear and tear on the approaches, particularly in this example, where repeated 80-yard shots to the 2nd green would otherwise result in multiple divots.
The handicap arrangements for tomorrow are explained on the attached rules sheet. Please note that the handicap shown on the Club V1 booking system is incorrect and should be disregarded. Scorecards have been prepared for each group with your team handicap already calculated.
The entry fee tomorrow is £3 per player, please ensure you top your swipe card up tonight if you don't have enough balance.
The Halfway Hut is open tomorrow, enjoy some festive drinks on the course. You will reach the hut after playing the hole that goes from the 6th tee to the 8th green.
Christmas jumpers are encouraged!
Club Vice-Captain Announcement
At the men's Christmas Dinner, Kevin Holton (Vice-Captain) announced who his Vice-Captain will be. For those that aren't aware already, please read on:
I am delighted to announce Matthew Hansford as my vice-captain for 26/27. Matthew joined BRGC as a boy of seven and he's been proud to call it his golfing home ever since. Golf has always been a family affair - his father served as captain here in 1979 and 1980.
Away from the course, he has run a successful Menswear business in Chichester, but perhaps his most meaningful work has been through his charity work with Extra Cover Sri Lanka.
His charity ensures around a thousand children receive a nutritious meal every school day and runs six schools for disabled young people in remote areas where no provision existed before
Golf may have been his starting point, but service to others has become his driving force.
So I am delighted to welcome Matthew as my vice captain for 26/27, and look forward to working with him during my Captain’s year.
