We would like to provide members with some clarity regarding the temporary closure of holes 12 and 13 during the current works on the 12th tee.
The decision to close these holes has been taken to protect the course, particularly the surrounds of the 11th green and the access routes leading to the 12th tee. While a temporary tee position is available to the left of the existing 12th tee, access from the 11th green is currently restricted to a narrow area.
Continued use during this period would result in concentrated foot traffic, leading to excessive wear and damage that would be difficult to recover from ahead of the main playing season.
Our priority at this time of year is to safeguard key playing surfaces and high-traffic areas so that the course is presented in the best possible condition through spring and summer. Allowing overuse now would risk more significant disruption later in the season, which we are keen to avoid.
The closure is therefore a preventative measure rather than one of convenience. Where ground conditions allow, we will look to open holes 12 and 13 on an occasional basis, but we are deliberately managing usage to ensure the long-term quality and sustainability of the course.
We appreciate that any course closure can be frustrating and thank members for their understanding and patience while these essential works are completed. As always, decisions are made with the long-term interests of the course and the membership firmly in mind.
Further updates will be shared as progress continues.
