National Recognition (again)!
Golf Monthly puts us in the best 5 Moorland Courses to play.
When Rob Smith visited he wrote a fabulous article about the course and rated us really highly in the Club Golf 'League'. He has followed this up with an article of moorland courses. I’ve been reading more about what makes moorland golf so special, and it really struck a chord. The whole appeal boils down to the natural setting, the strategic interest, and the value. Because these courses sit on higher, open ground, you get those big views, changing weather, and that proper sense of adventure. The turf is firm and springy, so you’re encouraged to play with a bit of imagination, and the landscape itself: heather, gorse, and the natural contours, shapes holes in a way that feels real rather than manufactured. It’s memorable, varied, and usually far better value than the more manicured alternatives.

Our course fits that description perfectly. Being up on the moor gives it that unmistakable character, and you can really see the benefit of the land’s natural movement in how the course is laid out. It rewards anyone who thinks their way around rather than just hitting it! It’s exactly the kind of place people talk about when they say moorland golf has soul...
