In her first year of eligibility for Jersey Golf tournaments, Melissa made an immediate impact by winning both the Island Championship and the Channel Island title, achievements that secured her the coveted Order of Merit crown.
Her impressive run continued when she represented Jersey in the Inter-Insular for the first time, where she earned an outstanding two and a half points from three matches.
Melissa’s talent has also been recognised beyond local competition. She received an invitation to compete in the prestigious Rose Ladies Series event at St George’s Hill, where she finished inside the top 30 ahead of several established Ladies European Tour professionals, including Carly Booth and Dame Laura Davies.
Earlier in the season, she performed admirably at the English Ladies Stroke Play Championship, making the cut and finishing a respectable 33rd overall. She also came close to progressing through pre-qualifying for the AIB Women’s Open at Delamere Forest, where she shared the draw with LPGA Tour star Danielle Kang.
Adding to her list of achievements, Melissa concluded her 19-year county career for Dorset on a high note, winning all her matches in her final county appearance.
The only frustration in an otherwise flawless season came when travel delays prevented her from defending her Royal Jersey Club Championship title. A delayed flight from the UK, following one of her national events, forced her to miss the opening round.
Despite that setback, Melissa’s season has been nothing short of exceptional, establishing her as one of the brightest talents in Channel Islands golf.
