Below you will find a detailed plan of our winter opening, schedule and events.
Kitchen & Bar Hours (see attached document)
The winter bar hours have been modified from the normal winter hours for financial and welfare reasons. The changes have been made this year after several conversations between all staff departments and committee. Opening, closing and re-opening within the week lead to food waste and financial loss, something our chef definitely wants to try to avoid this winter. After an extremely busy summer season, the three days off together is also better for bar & kitchen staff. Our Match & Handicap team has created a winter fixture list that ties everything together and should hopefully be a better winter season for all.
The sweep competitions will now run Thursday, Friday & Saturday each week, allowing you to pick which day you want to enter. Sunday will still be winter league day each week as before. Anderson/Black trophy (ladies comp) will still be Friday & Sunday each week as before.
Winter Handicaps
We will be operating our own winter handicap system, which will have no effect on your official WHS handicap. For any scores of 40pts or more (Nett 66 or less in strokeplay) your winter handicap will be reduced by 1 full shot. The Professional Team will be doing this manually once per week. Handicaps will be updated every Monday.
3 Day Winter Sweeps
Winter sweeps can be played on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday each week. Only 1 score can be submitted each week and the leaderboard will be switched off until the results are published following completion of the event. The 3 day format is to help increase participation to each event and avoid the worst of the weather.
3 Day Winter Events
Each month we will also host a varied 3 day event to include pairs texas scramble, 4BBB and cross country. These events will also be advertised for visitors as well as members. The cost to enter will be £5 for members and £10 for visitors. Teams can be mixed be mixed between members & visitors.
Winter League
The Winter League will continue in the same format as previous years with play only on a Sunday. There will be a Grand Final at Kilmarnock Barassie GC on Sunday 8th March. Eight players will qualify for the final with your best 6 scores from 17 weeks used to determine qualification.
Sweep & Winter League Entry
Sweep entry cost has increased to £5 to include Magic 2’s and to allow for scratch & nett prizes in both 1st & 2nd divisions. The feedback we’ve received is the low amounts of prize winnings available hence the increase in entry fee.
Anderson Black Ladies Winter Trophy
Anderson/Black ladies trophy will be on Fridays & Sundays each week as before. Unlimited scores can be submitted each month with your best score each month counting. The 3 best scores from the 5 months will determine the winner. Please record your scores on the sheets provided in the locker room. There is no requirement to use the computer.
Fixture List
The winter schedule and events is now available to view in the ‘Diary’ section on the Club V1 app.
