COURSE NEWS 26th OCTOBER
Tee Levelling
The main work focus this week has been on levelling four more tees - 3, 6, 12, 13. Our team stripped the turf, followed by the contractor, who came in on Thursday and Friday to level the root zone, using laser guidance. We needed 40 tonnes of root zone across the tees to achieve that, with the worst being the 6th - we were expecting that to be the 13th. The new turf, which comes in large rolls, will arrive Tuesday and Wednesday this week. It’s very heavy and can only be moved one roll at a time, but at least there is no problem about the ground being able to take the weight - it’s still very hard and the forecast for the week is decent. It all ought to be laid by the end of the week and courtesy of the weather should be well-established by Christmas - but we will still be on temporary tees until April, mind!

Weather-wise we had 10 mm of rain during the week, but as noted the ground remains very hard. Attempts to vertidrain the approaches had to be abandoned: the pins could not penetrate more than an inch or so: the machine was just bouncing.

We still have growth: the course had a full cut during the week. Summer tee markers have been brought in, leaving just the reds and yellows out for the rest of the winter.
