The reasoning behind this is to protect the fairways and allow them to recover, and which in turn hopefully will allow the course to remain open at times when it would otherwise be closed.
We have throughout the year asked you, the membership, to replace and repair divots, providing the materials to help; this hasn’t happened to levels we had hoped.
So, whether you are playing casual, general or competition golf(qualifying for handicap), mats will be compulsory when playing from the fairways and tees, play it as it lies in the rough when submitting a general play round or competition.
The Club are in process in the first instance of purchasing 100 mats description below:
• Durable and flexible special blend of plastic which will not break when miss-hit, even when frozen to minus 20°C.
• Grippers on both sides restrict mat movement during shots.
• Recessed areas prevent ball movement, even on the steepest slopes.
• Double sided lightweight design with choice of 2 consistent playing surfaces.
• Double ended one piece plastic moulding means no parts to lose, replace or break.
• Compact and portable. Measures just 15.5” x 4.5”.
• Lasts for many years.
The charge for these mats will be £10, payable on collection. Payment can be made by cash or if you have credit on your competition account.
If you already have a mat then you’re good to go.
Times when they will be available to purchase are now confirmed,, Wednesdays after 2.00 p.m., Saturdays after 12:00 p.m., and Sundays before and after Dave Smith’s RTTB. Please note they will be available in the first instance from Sunday 26th October around 2.00 p.m.
