Malcolm McGowan took the individual honours on the day with a sparkling 41 points.
After an ordinary front 9, Malcolm found a wee spark to record 5 straight pars from 11 through 15 to with some healthy 3 pointers in that run. He’ll be disappointed with a bogey-bogey finish on the last 2 holes, but overall, an excellent 41 points.
Second place on the day with a top notch 39 points was Alex Roberts, Alex had tidy pars on 7 holes and an excellent birdie on the 8th.
In third place with 38 points was the ever steady Jim Davidson. Jim’s having an excellent season with his handicap now down to 3 and 6 pars coupled with 3 bogies on the front 9 saw him out in 38. An astoundingly good back 9 saw Jim record 5 pars and 3 birdies with just a bogey on 18 seeing him cover the back nine in a superb scratch 33 on the way to his 38 points, great golf!
On the same 38 points as Jim was Stewart McKay who’s also having a good season. After 11 pars in his 18 holes, Stewart undid some of his good work with 3 double bogies, but still a very steady round of golf in his 38 points: that’s the beauty of Stabelford scoring!
There were 2 birdie 2’s on the day, Jim Davidson with a 2 at the 13th and Brian Anderson with a 2 at 15.
In the aggregate scoring for the trophy, and with just one round remaining to play, it’s all getting a bit tight at the top!
We also have a new leader.
Duncan MacAulay has moved 1 point ahead of long time leader Donald Caskie and joint leader Jim Stewart. Donald returned a poor points total in this month’s round and Jim was off on a golfing trip and unable to play.
Duncan recorded a very steady 36 points to give him a combined total of 112 points and a 1 point lead over Donald and Jim who are both on 111 points.
Also moving to 111 points and right in to contention is Malcolm McGowan as his 41 points moved him nicely up the leaderboard.
After failing to improve his points tally, Alistair Hutson remains on 110 points, with Stewart MacKay and Gordon More sitting just one point further back on 109 points.
With 7 players all within 3 points of the lead, it’ll be all to play for in the final round in September.
