Competitions galore , mid-handicap team are through to the qtr finals.
We only had one club match in July and another away loss to Chalgrave we will break this duck soon, great team effort with the average better ball score being around 44 shows that the determination is there.
The big day for the captain, other than the drive in and the less said about that the better, is the charity day . A huge amount of planning goes into this day and not a small amount of money as well, so when Rob and myself are faced with an Amber weather warning on the Friday day night all sorts of contingency plans are discussed!
The morning arrived and the decision was made to proceed with the original plan, as already mentioned in previous newsletters, sorry to the early starters as they had the worst of the weather and the later starters enjoyed the best of the weather.
However form my personal experience on the first tee everyone entered into the spirit of the day very early, with some taking that spirit to higher levels!
The greenkeepers did an amazing job , the F and B team served us food and drinks with a smile on theirs faces and Rob and his team keep the big machine working all day.
Obviously without the volunteers on the day we would not be able to get everyone round as quickly as we did, thanks to all of you. John entertained all on the 10th with his own inimitable style!
The biggest winner on the day was the charity with a huge amount raised through the sponsorship, raffle and auction , that is down to all the members with their generosity throughout and I thank you for that.
We had lots of positive feedback for the day so it must have been a success.
Another Friday, another social night with the Texas scramble sold out and the bar busy.
The end of the month saw a large contingent from Millbrook playing in the county pairs, there were some high scores on the day with several Millbrook players in the top 15 .
My partner Richard yeeles and myself managed to get round with 85 points and fourth place so thanks go to him.
All in all an extremely satisfactory July.
We still have places for the Princes captains away day noting that If you don’t fancy the coach journey you can always make your own way there and join . Call me to discuss
Cheers all
