Stenson v Southwold
Gorleston Stenson suffer narrow defeat away at Southwold
This Saturday Gorleston Stenson’s side travelled to Southwold for our round 3 draw.

Going into the match we knew it would be a close game, and the mornings foursomes results gave Gorleston an early 1 point lead in the afternoon, with a morning result of 2.5 to 1.5 to Gorleston.

Gorleston headed into the afternoon’s singles with a positive outlook, knowing we had to convert half of the singles matches to achieve an away win. Early signs in the player line up for the afternoons matches indicated the afternoon would be a tough battle.

With the early matches going in the home sides favour the match’s tide turned to the home side, and whilst Gorleston were leading in some of the later remaining matches on the course the home side achieved an early victory by securing wins across other matches, leaving Gorleston to half 3 matches that we were up on that were still in play on the course.

This is another narrow away from home defeat, and whilst frustrating, away from home wins are had to come by, and shows the capability within the squad and the progress we have made to put a win within reach.

The last two years have been rewarding and challenging as squad captain, a huge thank you to our sponsors, players and support from the club.

I believe we can reflect on this year having made significant progress that I hope we can capitalise on as a club in years to come.

One last thank you to all of the players and Duncan who made donations towards Ovamills charity event, we raised over £300 towards prizes that contributed to their day and hope this shows our support and appreciation to them.
