It was inevitable that the match was going to be close, and it would take a couple of moments of magic to swing the game in favour of one team.
The Highwoods course coped very well with the overnight rain. The morning foursomes got underway as the rain started again, but the golf was brilliant with Worthing starting the stronger of the two teams.
Dean Plant & Ash Rees put the first points on the board with a 4 & 2 win. Mark Budd & Matt Hart battled back for 3 down early on to grab a half on the 18th halving the 18th in birdies.
Steve Graham & Lee Drew lost the match 3 & 1 to level the match.
It appeared Worthing would be taking a lead into lunch , until Tom Foreman & Josh Hardy produced a brilliant fightback from 4 down to level the match on the 18th.
Match all square at 2-2.
Captain, Marcus Opoku put the order out for the afternoon singles and the draw looked very favorable.
Mark Budd won the first point of the afternoon with a powerful display of golf to great effect with a 3 & 2 win , hitting the ball over 350 yards on many holes.
Dean Plant won his customary singles point with a solid win 5 & 4.
Lee Drew smashed Nigel Harrington 7 & 6 and was -6 at the time the game finished.
Ash Rees lost a great match on the 18th and Matt Hart also lost in a quality game 4 & 3.
Josh Hardy played some great golf to defeat Scott Nightingale , former Sussex Champion 2 & 1 leaving ½ point required for the win.
Tom Foreman provided his second Houdini moment of the day , trailing 1 down with 2 to play, holed from 20ft for birdie on the 17th to level the game and then birdied the last to secure the winning points.

Steve Graham’s match was a conceded half as the match had finished giving East Sussex National a 7 -5 win and a spot in the Final against East Brighton at Haywards Heath on Saturday 6th September.
