COURSE NEWS 13th JULY
Horseflies
It’s a hottie, as the tabloids would say. Friday’s temperature was reaching 30 Degrees C, which would last through the weekend. Despite that, the team actually came in on Friday to a morning mist. Work conditions at these temperatures can be very unpleasant, sitting on a machine in the full sun - Gavin makes sure the lads have plenty of sunblock, but he can’t do anything about the heat. Nor can he deal with the swarms of horseflies that have emerged this morning to torment the workers. On Friday the team worked through their break and pressed on to complete the mowing, planning to finish early.

The greens were running at 9’ 3” on Friday. We’ve had a scant 2 mm rain (on Monday). Gavin resumed watering during the week - keeping moisture levels in the greens at around 27%. Inevitably, dry patch is an ongoing problem.

Clover patches in the cut rough has been sprayed and tees treated with selective weedkiller.
