Grant Firkins - Hole 2 - 17th May 2025 in Gents Alternative Bogey
“I used a 7-iron off the tee, playing slightly into the wind. I struck it cleanly, and the ball took one bounce just short of the green before rolling on. Because of the small mound just before the green, it disappeared from sight.
I assumed I’d just hit the green in regulation, but when I walked up and couldn’t see the ball, I started checking the greenside bunker and the rough behind the green. Nothing. I remember thinking, “No way – how have I lost this ball!?” That’s when the lads I was playing with told me to check the hole… and sure enough, there it was!”

“187 yards off the whites into a very strong wind, I played a 5 iron, struck it well and knew it was on line but never seen it go into the hole. I was delighted to say the least when I seen it in the bottom of the cup. Been so close for many years but now I’ve got it, the feeling was well worth waiting for!”
