Gents 2025 Annual Putting Competition.
Yesterday evening, the gents held their annual putting competition at the Pitlochry Putting Green. A good turnout saw 18 intrepid putters do battle for the prestigious honour of becoming the 2025 Putting Champion. Competing for the oldest trophy in the clubs cabinet, contenders were blessed with glorious sunshine and a manicured course.

Some, who considered it an easy task to putt whilst drinking and eating at the same time were rapidly eliminated, along with the weak and infirm, leaving the serious business of the semi-finals being fought over by Owen McLauchlan / Stewart Williamson and Jamie Burrows / Trevor Hayes.

Hotly contested and shadowed by the putting groupies, both matches were close and slower, clearly the result of the tension, weariness, determination and possibly the influence of the liquid courage for some, but it was Jamie and Owen left to fight it out for the trophy.

Jamie, the birthday boy and reigning champion, seemed increasingly determined to retain his crown, with Owen equally determined to topple him. Each hole of the final 18 again were close, with the groupies egging on their own favourite. But it was the birthday boy Jamie, who emerged supreme, retaining the trophy he won last year.

It was all great fun and thank you to Trevor Coe for organising the weather and presenting the venue in such pristine condition. Many thanks also to all who participated.

See you all next year and surely we can’t allow Jamie to win it three years in a row – we’ll never hear the end of it!
