The weather forecast was quite favourable with the risk of showers later on in the day. Our opponents were a team representing Thorpeness Golf Club. One of the rules of the ‘Weston’ is that all games must be played in strict handicap order. Failure to comply with this rule would lead the whole team to be disqualified. As you can imagine the standard of golf in this competition is superb and so it was yesterday!
Our team in playing order of Debbie Jary, Marie Norman, Paula Ledger, Pauline Phillips and Leigh Denny achieved a fabulous 4/1 victory and huge congratulations go to them, it was a pleasure to watch you all!
The course was in super condition and was praised especially by the ladies captain of Thorpeness. Well done to Danny Perring and his team of greenkeepers for presenting the course in such superb condition.
Finally, thank you to Ladies President, Anne Amos for seeing us off and to Rosemary Woodhouse, Jackie Walsh and Neilma Jary for their support. Following the Match we enjoyed some tasty refreshments prepared by Simon Wainwright and his Team.
For their third match of the season our Weston Bowl Team travel to Seckford Golf Club on Sunday 13 July and we wish them good luck.
Penny Platten, Weston Organiser.
