Gorleston Stenson Team advance to round 3
This Saturday saw Gorleston Stenson side welcome a regular visitor to Gorleston, Haverhill.

With a few regular faces absent from Gorleston’s squad this round the team faced a heightened task, under testing weather conditions forecasted for the duration of the day.

At half time after the mornings foursomes matches, Gorleston trailed the away side 3-1 at the turn, with the mornings highlight a notable victory from Paul Farrow winning his mornings foursomes match on his debut.

With both sides looking to secure a win by achieving 7 points from the available 12 across the day, the team faced a challenge to turn the mornings defeat into a victory, it was really important Gorleston got off to a fast start and secure wins early from the afternoons singles, and not lose further ground to the away side.

The afternoons team was led out by Tommy Hunt, taking his match down to the final hole and unfortunately being narrowly defeated on 18. Gorleston’s remaining singles matches were all converted to wins throughout the afternoon, proving the strength, depth and resilience of the home team had available when under pressure.

Gorleston now face Southwold away from home in the next round.

As always, thanks to everyone who supported and our Sponsors Ovamill Ltd, and a notable call out to Steve Hall and Mark Seeley who made themselves available as reserves for the day but did not feature during play, a great squad result which we aim to follow up with another away from home victory in the next round.
