The scratch section lost 9 points to 3. Our winner was Paul McGrath 3&1,and a half point gained by Andy Hood. Our losing players were Josh Thompson, losing on the last hole and shows how tough the scratch section is as Josh had 7 birdies losing to a former member Martin McArdle great game, our other losing players were Phil Chadwick, Graeme Speight and Steve Smart losing 1 down .
In the handicap section we lost by 10 points to 2. Our winner was Dave McGreal playing in his first game of the season winning 2 Up. Our losing players were Marc Symington 3&2, Daniel Spence 2&1, Darren Hurst 2&1, Will Bellerby 2&1 and Nick Winstanley losing on the last hole. Well done to our players who, as always, tried their best on a very difficult golf course and gain points as most have not played Richmond before and is a very quirky course.
I must say that Richmond was in magnificent condition with some great pin positions, we also had some great hospitality from the catering and bar staff, the food was excellent.
The final result being Richmond 19 points, Billingham 5 points.
I would now to thank my friend Stewart Openshaw for being my chauffeur and helping me sort things with the team it was much appreciated.
A big thank you to our wonderful supporters who turn up home and away these being our captain Glen Brocklesby, Colin Spence caddying for his son Daniel, Martin Porch and his mate, Tom Lee and not forgetting our resident OAP’s Robert Scotney Smith and his chauffeur Howard Gill a big round of applause to you all as it’s a long journey. It was appreciated by both myself and all the players, see you all next week.
Our next fixture is at home to Ineos Golf Club on Wednesday 11/6/2025.
The team and I are looking forward to seeing as many of our supporters next week it’s got to be better than watching the TV !!!
