WCGC Seniors travelled to St Austell GC on Wednesday 4th June with a reduced team of 6 pairs as St Austell were unable to field a full squad. With dark clouds gathering and the prospect of heavy showers, the matches teed off in challenging conditions.

Seniors Captain Dennis Fryer and playing partner Nick Watters made a strong start, bagging the first point with a convincing 5&4 win. This was followed by 3 further wins for WC, with pairings Mark Adams/David Winks (3&2), Jeff Deakin/Andy Hussey (4&2) and Malcolm Cadman/Phil Thomas (1Up) all delivering points.

In the closing stages and improving weather conditions, St Austell saved face with wins in the final 2 matches, giving an overall well earned away result of 4-2 to WCGC.

Well done to Malcolm Cadman for winning WCGC’s nearest the pin on the short but challenging 16th hole.
