Cranworth v Aldeburgh
Ladies suffer 4.5 - 1.5 loss
On Thursday the 29th May the ladies section played in the first round of the Cranworth Suffolk County Competition.

Team captain Kinza Ellis travelled with her team Tonia Connor, Jenny Watson, Jane Biss, Vera Woolnough, Rosemary Woodhouse, Jayne Standen and Maggie Hart to Aldeburgh to play against opponents Bungay.

The weather was warm and very blustery but we were lucky not to have any rain.

The competition started with two pairs, followed by four single players.

Pairs Kinza and Tonia rather nervously found themselves in the centre of a swarm of bees on the 11th fairway but managed to stay calm and battled to come back from 3 down to all square on the 16th, with two holes to play both teams fought hard and Bungay secured the win on the 18th. Jenny and Jane found themselves four holes down but continued to challenge their opponents and managed to pull back two holes, but eventually Bungay took the win on the 16th.

Some excellent golf was played by our single players, Vera, Rosemary, Jayne & Maggie but Bungay proved to be very challenging opponents. Unfortunately Jayne winning and Vera halving her match was not enough for us to clinch victory and Bungay won on the day 4.5-1.5.

I would like to Thank Leigh Denny and Maureen Duckett for being lovely caddy’s, and to the wonderful ladies and gentleman who travelled to Aldeburgh to support and encourage us around the course, it was very much appreciated.

We would like to wish Bungay good luck in the next round.

Thank you to our fabulous team of ladies I am super proud of you all.
