Pace of Play
Slow play and etiquette
We're committed to ensuring every member enjoys their time on the course. A key part of that is maintaining a good pace of play for all golfers. Slow play can significantly impact the enjoyment of those behind you, leading to frustration and congestion on the course.
Our target time for a round of 18 holes for a 4-ball are:
• Darely White tees – 4 hrs
• Lochgreen White tees – 4hrs 10mins
This allows everyone to complete their round without feeling rushed yet keeps the flow of play consistent. If you consistently find yourself a full hole behind the group in front of you, you are likely playing too slowly.
To help us all contribute to a smooth and enjoyable round, please keep the following in mind:
• Play "Ready Golf": When safe to do so, and not distracting to others, hit when you're ready, even if it's not technically your turn.
• Walk at a Brisk Pace: Move quickly and safely between shots.
• Record Scores on the Next Tee: Mark your scorecard after you've left the green and are on your way to the next tee.
• Lost Ball Protocol: If you suspect your ball might be lost, hit a provisional ball to save time. The Rules of Golf allow only three minutes to search for a lost ball.
• Be Ready to Play: When it's your turn, be prepared to hit your shot. Walk directly to your ball and assess your shot while others are playing.
• Tee off on time: Teeing off before your allotted tee time only causes delays to your game.
• Consider Your Group Size: Four-ball groups naturally take longer than two-balls or three-balls. Be mindful of this and invite faster groups to play through.
