The Platten Trophy – Saturday 23 May, 2025
Pat and Punts post incredible 49 points
Saturday dawned with heavy rain showers but entrants and organisers of the Platten Trophy held their nerve and the competition went ahead. We were rewarded by a super sunny and very warm afternoon. A quality field of 18 took part.
A huge thank you goes to Stuart Pearce who was a huge help, not only in setting up the competition but also producing the results. He even helped with setting up the prize table.
The results were excellent with Rosemary and Jim Woodhouse in third place with an excellent 36 points on countback from Laura Westhorpe and David Ellis in second place.
When it came to first place and the winners of the Platten Trophy for monthly Mixed Foursomes we were in for a very pleasant surprise. With an outstanding score of 49 stableford points were Pat Farnese and David Punter. In fact they had carded a gross 83!
There was a super atmosphere in the Club House with a toast being proposed to Paul, which was very moving. May I close by thanking all those who took part in making this a day to remember.
