Seniors Pipped at Newquay
Close Encounter
WCGC Seniors were on the road again at Newquay GC on Monday 28 Apr. Teeing off in beautiful Spring sunshine, the first pair of Captain Dennis Fryer and playing partner Jeff Deakin fell short at the final hole, giving a first point of the day to the hosts.

With the second pair also beaten, a welcome half point from Fred Grist and Mark Adams steadied the ship. This was immediately followed by a well fought win by Vice Captain Tom Gair and Tony Dickinson (1Up). Further points from the pairings of Andy Hurrell/David Winks (2&1) and Steve Blyth/Kelvin Searle (2Up) meant that all depended on the final pairing of David Felce and Seniors debutant Scott Harrington.
Sadly, despite a great 17 hole battle in increasingly breezy conditions, the hosts pipped the visitors on the 18th resulting in a 4 1/2 - 3 1/2 victory for Newquay.

Despite the result, another enjoyable day of Golf and credit to the all team for their sterling efforts on the day. Well done also to David Felce for winning the visitor nearest the pin prize on the 9th!

Up next, an important home re-match with Perranporth on 8th May.
