Parks Match
Gorleston v Hintlesham
We arrived at Hintlesham on a VERY wet day. Lots of puddles and water in the bunkers.

Thankfully by the afternoon tee off’s the rain had abated and whilst grey and cool, better playing conditions than what threatened overnight and during the rainy morning. However, leaving the course rather damp and the greens much slower than what we normally play on at GGC.

Bob Richardson captaining the team.

Very tight matches and at the “half way hut” (after 8 holes), finely balanced with the teams even, 1 up in 2 of the 4-balls and 1 down in the other two.

After the 11th, the first group had got their match to back to level from being 1 down, 2nd group had maintained their “1 Up” advantage, 3rd group were back to “levels” & Captain Bob (playing the “anchor leg”, partnered by Ray Pope) had had a wonderful 3 holes since the 8th turning their match from 1 down to 2Up!!

So GGC 3 up with 7 to play…..

The next 4 holes didn’t go all our way with Hintlesham getting the overall match back to “levels”, so all to play for with 3 holes remaining!!!

Sadly they didn’t go our way, but still a great effort against the home advantage.
