Easter Egg Scramble
20th April
The slightly delayed Easter Egg Scramble got off to a frying start with an all-new live draw. Thirty-six sausage-munching competitors stood, spellbound, as the names of each captain’s team were eggstracted from three identical plastic bowls - labelled 1, 2 and, yes, 3 - by R&A appointed eggsperts, Peter F and Don.

Then, in the time it now takes to boil a large one, the teams were briefed, balls were polished, and nine crack teams set forth in the early sun - only one to return eggstatic.

That team was Tony’s band of eggsperienced scramblers: Jim, Simon and Don (multi-talented) Ross. Asked for comment after the win – and widely anticipated to throw in an egg-pun about the beating we all took – Tony surprised journalists with a simple, but humble, quip: ‘I only hatched the game plan. Omeletting my team do the talking.’
