What's been happening
Dear member

I'm pleased to report that we are pretty much back to fully operational.

For the next few weeks, while this cold and occasionally damp weather persists, if those of you that are able to carry would continue to do so, it would be much appreciated and make a big difference to compaction on the course.
Those that require a trolley can use one.

The buggies have been serviced and will be available to members that cannot play golf without one as of Friday this week (Unless it pours with rain!) Obviously there are still one or two wet areas which you will need to avoid.

As per my email this morning, we have a contractor in this week who is assisting the green keepers with some drainage work around the 2nd and 15th holes. We are sand banding these areas, which will hopefully improve drainage around the ditch area.
Sand Banding is quite simply a small trench, back filled with sand.
Once complete the area will be deep verti-drained and also back filled with sand, which should really help water flow toward the ditch as and when it rains.

Due to these works, the tees on holes 2 and 15 are near the ditch and will remain there all day tomorrow (Thursday)

SPRING FOURSOMES
It was tough going on Sunday for the first major of 2024. Cold and still playing long, the course just about beat everyone....

Well played to the three teams tied on 35 points, separated in the end by best back 3 holes!

Overall winners, Banfield and Devereux narrowly pipping McKears & McKears who in turn beat Avern-Love & C. Smith with a better back 9.

Winners = Ollie Banfield & Sean Devereux 35 points = £50 each on account

2nd = David McKears & Alex McKears 35 points = £35 each

3rd = Andy Avern-Love & Chris Smith = £25 each

Nearest The Pin

Hole 7 = Steve Maguire = £20

Hole 16 = Chris Smith = £20

ADVERTISING SCREEN
You might have noticed a small TV near the entrance to the bar which we are using to advertise all things Millbrook Golf Club. My thanks to John McLoughin for donating the TV and Dave McKears for putting it in place and adding the content.

If you wish to advertise your company, services or maybe a charity event etc, we are selling advertising space on the screen. Please contact me or Dave McKears at marketing@themillbrook.com. Ad's can be placed monthly, six monthly or yearly. You will also get exposure on the club website.

DIVOT BAGS
As per my plea last week, it would much appreciated now that several people are using trolleys if you can take a divot bag and fill your marks and more as you play. The filling stations are topped up and available for use.

RECYCLING & COURSE BINS
Thanks to those that have started using the new bins! Please remember to carry your food waste and dog waste around with you and place it in the new general waste bin within the car park.
IN THE CAR PARK = Please put paper, plastics and tins into the recycling bin, all other waste can go in general waste.
ON THE COURSE = Please only put plastic bottles, paper, paper cups and tins into these bins.
