Frinton Triumphant in Leslie Wood 1st Round
Colchester Offer Tough Test in Close Match
After a few late changes to the Frinton team the night before the game, the morning foursomes started well with Frinton up in 2 & level in 2 after 9 holes. The 1st game involving Paul Mutton & Jamie Baker set the tone for the day with a fine 3&2 win. Ross McCauley and Liam Wilson soon followed them to the clubhouse with a hard fought 2&1 win.

The remaining 3 games decided to delay lunch and go all the way to the 18th green.
2 of those again went Frinton's way with one halved match.

4.5 - 0.5 in Frinton's favour at lunch.

As expected in the afternoon singles, Colchester came out with their A game and after the 1st hour they were up in 8 & level in 2. However, the Frinton team after their big lunch soon got going,

Paul Mutton halved his game after being 2 down with 3 to play, Glen David & Simon O’Brien both won early and the Frinton tale of Andrew Lund, Ross McCauley & Louis Partner pushed us over the line.

Final score Frinton 9.5 - Colchester 5.5

I apologise if I have not mentioned all the team but everyone played extremely well.
Also a big thanks to all the caddies (Neil in his club blazer and tie, was the smartest caddie I had seen for a long time)

Our next round is on the 19th May at home against Orsett, which should be a tremendous test. Please come down and support the team out on the course, as it's very much appreciated by the players.

Regards
Bill Burns
Leslie F Wood Team Captain.
