The first home Mixed Match of the year was against Thetford on Thursday 18th April. Visiting Mixed team captain Paula Claxton and husband Andrew led off against Links Men’s Captain Barry Peak partnered by Marian Earle in a game which the visiting couple were to lose by 5 & 4 despite receiving 6 shots from the Links pair. Similar results from Links players Hugh Blake and Pauline Bond (7 & 5) and Bob Chamberlain and Mary Walsh (4 & 2) got the Links off to a flying 3-0 start.
The McDonnells and the Greenalls were unable to close out very tight matches which were both lost by the margin of 1 down. It was therefore left to Peter and Margaret Beckley to do the honours with a 3 & 2 victory to close out the match 4-2 to the Links.

A unanimously applauded meal of Lasagne with Salad and Garlic Bread, followed by Lemon Meringue Roulade and coffee rounded out the proceedings of a most enjoyable afternoon in which the golf was played in a very competitive but friendly spirit by all concerned.
