Following the AGM and our election as club officers, we wanted to give you an initial update on our first couple of weeks in the role.

We have met with the club staff to provide reassurance that a change of officers doesn’t imply any immediate changes in how the club operates. It appears that information to the contrary has been circulating in the club.

The staff and ourselves have had to deal with a number of urgent issues including water leaking into the restaurant from the roof above, the ladies’ toilets not working and the issue of the water main leak with NI Water that looks to have had some impact on the flooding from the manhole located in the 18th.

Alongside our bar convenor, we are addressing price increases from our drink’s supplier, Diageo, as well and implementing uplifts to minimum wage levels for staff. At present we have encountered a procedural issue with implementation of the price increases and that is being addressed. It’s been a couple of weeks of finding our way around as we have not been able to secure a full handover of information at this point.

Our urgent tasks list also includes engaging the appropriate expertise to assess the drainage on the course and to give us some ideas for how we might address the course drainage in a more sustainable way longer term. This will be important to understand and support our green keeping staff before we commit to any further expenditure in this area. We are progressing with that now.

Our first Council meeting at the club us scheduled for 16 April and we will provide a further update following that meeting.
