Farewell to Captain JC and much more…
Saturday evening saw 75 guests assemble for Captain John Cahill’s farewell dinner. We managed to get everyone in the Cube Room and, as ever, the menu was spectacular. A fitting occasion, for a fitting term of office. During JC’s reign a whopping £85k has been raised for his chosen charities, Prostate Cancer Uk and Richmond Good Neighbours.

The Captain is pictured here presenting Dr Matthew Hobbs, of PCUK, a record £76,296.27. This is the most ever raised by a golf club for Prostate Cancer UK.
Before the Captain addressed the national there was the time honoured length of speech sweepstake. Actual time was 25.09 and we had two winners – Charles Irving (25.05) and Bex Maguire (25.13) who were both a mere four seconds out! And a load of crisp tenners for the charities!

Member for Social Activities, Gary Norman, receives an acknowledgement of appreciation from The Captain. The newsroom over thought this image somewhat, looking for a signifance to the “150”. Having ruled out IQ (instantly), best gross 36, and longest drive, we were reliably informed it was just part of the design. Big hand to Gary for many great events!

And finally many hearty thanks and congratulations to Captain John Cahill and First Lady, Sandy for an excellent year in office.

Personal thanks to JC for help and input on various articles during the year, and to Graham Juber for stepping up to do a great set of pics!
